Thursday 2/19: Wine and Desserts Session 1: Redux

Sunday, September 21, 2008

I am joining up with the good guys at Amalfi (soon to be the from the old Mantra) and putting together an assortment of wines from Quady Winery in California; Silvio Lelli from Nationwide Wine & Spirits is also bringing in something to get your palates ready. Following this, we will also either partake of a liquer or a port wine, and then coffee.

Note: This is a repeat of an event that we did when we got that first severe cold snap last November, and everyone got nice.

Last time, the menu included: Asian Almond Tuille, Apple Dumplings, Cheesecake Spring Rolls, Chocolate Raspberry cake, Asian Donuts w/ Sun-dried Cherries, and Sesame Biscotti.

This time, it's anyone's guess.

Also, for another $10 (upon entry), Amalfi is offering a deal of your choice of either a Mediterranean Seafood Salad (my favorite), a Venetian Poached Salmon Salad, or a Coastal Roast Tuna Salad.

For reservations contact Amalfi at 215-988-1211.  Space is limited to twenty people

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.

We welcome your comments and suggestions. Please click here to send us an e-mail.
