This wine is a a 50/50 combination of Syrah and Monastrell/Matara/Mourvedre.  Lately, I have found a new love for Mourvedre because of a phenomenal one from Spain, and there is a Sicilian Syrah I know that makes you want to slap your mama.

This wine is velvety on the tongue with smooth tannins and a flavor that reminds you of black currants and a touch of spice.  Actually, if this wine was a woman -- and it is named Southern Belle -- most men would fall at it's feet.  The finish does have the mildest scintilla of both tobacco and cherry.

This is a lovely beast!

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
