So, I was in Canal's on Route 38 today and they have totally reorganized most of the wine section in the store. I ran into my boy 'Money' who works there -- honestly, I can't remember if his name is Mike or Mark, though I swear it's Mark, and also it's funny when they call for Zach, because I respond and there is another Zach who works there -- and we talked a little bit as we always razz each other. I say that he works there just to feel like normal folks and he always tells me to just buy the whole store.
Anyway, while looking for something inexpensive and new to try, this blue bottle spoke to me, and saying 'Mediterranean White Wine' made me want to try it. I mean, I have had wines from Greece, and I figured that it was one of them. Actually, this wine is from Spain, and so far I have traced that it is part Muscat and part Malvasia, but a certain type of Malvasia.
The nose is very floral and reminds me of sweet flowers like hibiscus. The color is a yellow which reminds me of sunflowers and the flavor reminds me of stonefruit and pineapples. The former would be peaches, apricot and nectarines, especially white nectarines and peaches.
This wine is very good to be inexpensive and would be a great bridge for getting people from the super sweet wines and then transitioning them to more mature tastes. It's funny, because I don't think I have written this much about a wine in quite awhile.
