It's a Saturday night and I am up here doing some writing, so I figured that I would also have some wine. I went over to Canal's on route 38 in New Jersey to re-up on some wine. I was looking for a wonderful Bordeaux blend from Chile, but they didn't have it. And I couldn't get it at Total Wines because they were without power all week, and still might not had any. So, there was a person promoting the Benziger wines, and I tried each of them. Actually, they didn't have the Sauvignon Blanc, but I picked it up anyway (the Merlot it great).
This Sauv Blanc has a little wildness to it, but has some very restrained citrus. While the label says that the flavor consists of lemon, lime and green apple, I get more lime and lemon rather than anything else. I don't agree that the finish is long because the taste profile drops off very quickly.. but hold on, something does stay on your tongue for at least twenty seconds.
This is not one of my favorite sauvignon blancs, but it could be an interesting dalliance every now and then.
