It's funny in the fact that I like some New World styles
of French grapes more than I like the French (Old World)
style of things; Viognier being a classic case of that. But
this time, here is a French Sauvignon Blanc that I actually
like.
Crisp is nose, with flower and citrus characteristics.
Light/pale straw in color with a slightly heavy body and
viscosity. Lemon in flavor and imbued with a tart citrus
hit with some minerality reminding me of Gruner Veltliner
and a sharp decay but long silky finish, this wine is
actually a bargain beauty.
I only purchased it after the second time I saw it in the
store. I partook of it with some cut green beans seasoned
with Lemon Pepper and some grilled chicken breasts that I
seasoned with Thyme, Lemon Pepper and some 'Poultry Seasoning.'
This should be something to pick a few bottles up of, and
would be great for entertaining larger groups, if not just
cozying up with a good book and a blanket.
