Elysium means paradise in Greek mythology, and this wine
has been a little bit of paradise for me for a while.
Actually, the first time I had it, I was stuck on their
Essencia and didn't like it, but the next time around, I was
moved over to this wine.
Like a lighter port, this wine has oomph to it, but even
more so, it has the greatest flavors of blackberry,
raspberry and dark cherry combined with muscat (the varietal
is actually a cross of Muscat and another grape called
Schiava Grossa). But this wine does remind you of a port.
The body is heavy and it's like a weighty velvet on your
tongue, but it goes down smooth, and finishes slowly.
This wine would actually be perfect as a sauce over
something like cake or pie.
If you haven't tried it, go out and get you some. You'll
thank me.
