I remember the first time that I had a Chenin Blanc; where and when. I remember the first time that a Viognier floored me. Well, this Viognier was grafted on 50 year-old Chenin Blanc vines in 1997 and is a wicked wine... in a good way.

Unlike most raggedy-ass Viognier wines, this lovely beast is well tamed and full of exotic, tropical flavors. You can taste peaches, apricots, pineapple, papaya and even a little bit of subdued smoke in each sip or gulp, whatever you choose. That smoke is from the oak, but it's well placed and well developed.

The smell is not overly aromatic, staying close to the glass and within the bowl of the glass, but it's actually woody and floral at the same time.

This wine is great, and I would highly recommend it for any romantic interludes and endeavors.

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
