I've had Primitivo and I've had Primitivo, and while it
is essentially Zinfandel, this was one of the first wines
labeled as Primitivo that took my breath away. Now, I
didn't give it a ten, because there are still some other
Zins that will beat this hands down without blinking, but
this wine is perfect to pair up with anything chocolate,
whether a Tootsie Roll or a three tiered cake. It's
somewhat spicy, with a leaning towards mocha, reminding you
of a great cup of coffee. It also gives you a taste of dark
cherries on the side of your tongue as well.
The tannins are very mild, but I did detect just the
smallest hint of granularity, but alas, there actually was
no sediment in the bottle.
