Gris/Grigio, what's the difference? It's exactly the
same grape after all, but it seems like any Pinot Gris kicks
ass over anything named Pinot Grigio these days.
After the last debacle of a Kim Crawford Pinot Grigio
2008 from East Coast, Australia, which was nothing compared
to a 2007 Pinot Gris from Marlborough, New Zealand, I have
been looking for the next great Pinot Gris. I have had some
from Oregon which are spectacular and some which have been duds.
I have seen this bottle for awhile on the shelf and
finally ventured to try it. Well, I am happy that I did,
and will admit that it is slowing down my morning
productivity, but it's worth it. This is one of those cases
where the writing on the back of the label is true to the
actual wine, and in that, the wine is clean and crisp, with
the most delectable flavors of pears and apricots. This
wine is perfect for all forms of poultry (I'd love to try it
with duck) and with anything spicy (too bad I didn't tell
Khara about this on Saturday).
This wine is a winner, and I think that you should pick
up a bottle soon.
