Usually, you expect a very bright citrus attack when you drink a Sauvignon Blanc, but I have had different ones in which it was akin to the difference between Chablis and Chardonnay, even though they're from the same grape.

The notes of the back of the bottle mention gooseberry, and that will obviously be something that I will have to get familiar with to know when I taste it. However, I am tasting the bell pepper aspects at the end of the swallow, as well as freshly cut grass along with a tempered amount of citrus.

Honestly, this wine isn't bad, and grows on you. I could see it with fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as with anything with a tomato or basil sauce to it. It doesn't lean over and intimidate with it's own flavors, but rather blends with what you're consuming. I see this as a great companion to anything flavored mainly with herbs, like Lemon Chicken, or along with a nice green heavy salad.

While it started out as a 7, in the end, understanding this wine and what it would be good with resulted in me giving it a 9.

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
