I have said before how there are some bad wines that you
can easily detect based on price, but that there are some
good ones as well. However, in Pennsylvania, an
inexpensive but great wine still usually costs several
dollars more than in a non-control state.
Well, as I went to a PLCB State Store on Saturday to
grab a couple of bottles of white wine, I saw some box wine
for about $5/$6 and said that I would try it. Now, you
might say that box wine is a bad thing, and in most cases I
would agree with you, but there are several companies
making quality wine and packaging it in one liter boxes.
As I tried this wine that night, and unfortunately
shared it with a couple other people, I must say that this
definitely would've gotten a rating of 5 if it was in the
bottle, but the fact that it was in a box, and a lot more
inexpensive, I had to give it a 1.
The taste itself seems changed by the packaging, but the
Chardonnay seems to burn your throat as you go down; folks,
that is not how wine should ever make you feel. I really
even can't catch a taste as the smell just kind of
assaulted and shut down my taste buds.
