Braving Amtrack to attend Vino 2010 in Manhattan today

Friday, February 5, 2010

Every now and then, you just have to go out there and do something that happens once a year. Well, for today, I am going to brave the impending blizzard via Amtrak and head to NYC to attend Vino 2010, which is billed as the largest celebration of Italian wine outside of Italy.

I definitely hope to connect with many importers and distributors, and hopefully find some great finds in the order of Chinato, Amarone, and various Passito style wines.

It"s times like this I wish that I had completed my Rosetta Stone software for Italian, but, such is life. At least I am making the trip.

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
