One of the most interesting things about being an American wine drinker is that our tastes are most easily shaped and attuned to a small array of styles [of winemaking] for each major varietal. That said, most of us will not easily understand the beauty of a white Bordeaux or varietals such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon produced in places like Italy, Spain and Moldova.
This Sauvignon Blanc is a stelling example of this.
The aroma is wonderfully floral and the taste is both citrus and smooth, with a nice firm acidity that isn't too strong. I definitely get grapefruit from this, but something more balanced; the label says that you get mulberry and black currant as well, but I have no idea what mulberry tastes like. In drinking this wine, you are immediately bombarded with citrus and acidity which then drops off very quickly to more blended flavors which last in your mouth for over thirty seconds. The mouth/weight is very pleasant and this wine is neither too heavy nor too light but flows a little like silk.
A great purchase.
