I have been drinking Mara for some years now, starting with the 2005 vintage.  This one isn't quite as bold as that one was but still has a certain beauty to it.  In fact, this one is more rounded in flavor, consisting of spice (maybe a combination of cardamom and cinnamon) with a tobacco and leather backbone which takes a good thirty seconds to finally die off in your mouth.  It's dry and probably would go best with something like sausage or wild boar, though it could be great with a nice steak or some prime rib.

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
